The North Reading Police Department is recognizing Alzheimer’s Awareness Month this September and offering support to families in the North Reading community.
The North Reading Police Department offers a Silver Alert program to help ensure the safety of people with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as access to a Mental Health Clinician who can assist those in need of resources.
The Department has also planted Promise Garden flowers in front of the police station to show support for Alzheimer’s awareness.
The Silver Alert program collects photographs, descriptive information and emergency contact information that can assist police if an individual goes missing due to a tendency to wander.

The Department would also like families to be aware that Mental Health Clinician Laura Miranda and Elder Affairs Lt. James Carcia are available to help those in need of resources from the North Reading Senior Center and elsewhere.
