The North Reading Police Department (NRPD) is undergoing a critical, independent evaluation as part of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional law enforcement. A team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) will arrive on Tuesday,
October 21, 2025, to begin the on-site assessment.
This comprehensive review is designed to verify that the NRPD’s policies, procedures, operations, and facilities comply with the 257 mandatory and 125 optional standards of the state-level accreditation program. Achieving accreditation status is a voluntary process that represents the department’s unwavering dedication to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in all facets of public service, ultimately reducing liability exposure and enhancing community confidence.
