On 7-7-15 at 6pm the Town of North Reading swore in its two newest police officers, Officer Richard Valeri and Officer Peter DiPietro at North Reading Police Headquarters.
Accompanying the officers were numerous family members and friends. Also in attendance were various Town officials, to include Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto, North Reading Town Clerk Barbara Stats, North Reading Board of Selectmen member Jeffrey Yull, North Reading Police Chief Michael Murphy, and numerous other North Reading Police Department representatives.
Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto commented stating that the officers were not only joining the North Reading Police Department and law enforcement profession, but also that they were becoming valued members of the Town and the community as a whole.
Both officers graduated from the Municipal Police Training Committee, full time police officer, basic recruit training academy on July 2nd.
During the swearing in ceremony Chief Michael Murphy spoke directly to the officers and to their families who were in attendance about the importance of the officer’s oath of office and how that oath of office will serve them well as a guide throughout their careers. The Chief also welcomed the new officers and their families to the North Reading Police Department family.
Officers DiPietro and Valeri will begin their NRPD Officer Field Training Programs in the upcoming weeks.
