The North Reading Police have introduced an information sheet for residents with family members with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This information sheet is for the family to fill out helpful and identifying information that first responders can use when interacting with people that have ASD.
The Police Department has recently been trained and now have a working knowledge of ASD, and the wide variety of behaviors individuals with ASD can exhibit in an emergency. We would like to invite members of the community to share with us information about their loved ones with ASD so that we can serve and protect them better. This program is completely voluntary and all information will be kept confidential and only used to alert first responders when interacting with an individual with ASD.
This form can be found under the resources section of our website (www.nrpd.org). Once in the resource section, users can navigate to the ‘downloadable forms’ section and look for the form titled “North Reading Person with ASD Information Sheet.” The form will also be available by clicking on this link . The form can be filled out and then either emailed to Sgt. Howe (dhowe@nrpd.org) or dropped off at the police station.
