Special Olympics Cruiser Convey 2019
This past Saturday, June 8th, North Reading Police Officer Michael Marra had the privilege to participate in the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run Cruiser Convey. Officer Marra joined hundreds of other local, state and federal officers in a cruiser convey into Harvard University. Once there officers took part in handing out medals to the athletes.
The Cruiser Convey and handing out the medals is law enforcement’s way to bring attention to these great Special Olympic athletes and the event itself. “This is becoming a favorite event of mine,” said Officer Marra, “always proving to be a humbling experience combined with the opportunity to meet and mingle with brother officers from other departments and make new friends whom are competing in the events.”
The June Summer Olympic games are the largest Special Olympic event in Massachusetts and it serves as the season ending state tournaments for the spring events of: Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Power Lifting, Gymnastics and Track & Field.
