The North Reading Police Department has received recent complaints regarding repeated, unsafe vehicular traffic on Concord Street. There’ve been two major interrelated traffic problems identified in the Concord Street area. First, is speeding vehicles, to include private and commercial. Speeding vehicles most likely are contributing to the second major concern which is commercial trucks failing to yield to oncoming traffic when entering Concord Street from their business locations.
In an effort to address these traffic related safety concerns, North Reading Police Officers met with businesses located in the Concord Street area. In speaking with various fleet managers and business representatives, we’ve requested their cooperation by addressing the issues with their respective employees. The local businesses have been receptive to the collaborative effort and have pledged their cooperation.
The North Reading Police Department will continue to conduct active traffic enforcement of both commercial and private vehicles in the affected area. Please assist us in keeping our local roadways safe for both private and commercial vehicles by heading this message and driving safely. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Any questions or concerns can be forwarded to the North Reading Police Department, care of Officer Scott Tilton (Safety Officer) at (978)-357-5092 or at stilton@nrpd.org.
