The North Reading Police Department, in conjunction with AAA, suggests the following safety tips for a fun filled Halloween.
“BE BRIGHT ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT”
SEE AND BE SEEN
Be bright on Halloween night! Carry a flashlight
Use reflective tape or stickers on your costume or treat bags
Masks can block your vision. Use non – toxic face paint instead
Costumes and shoes should fit well to prevent trips and falls
Costume accessories should be soft and flexible, not sharp and pointy
ROAD SAFETY RULES
Look all ways and listen for traffic before crossing
Cross at corners, not between parked cars
If there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic
Walk, don’t run
Use caution when crossing driveways
Obey traffic signals
Go with a group and bring a trusted adult
